FAQ
WHAT DOES SIGNING UP FOR A SERVICE LOOK LIKE?
At Spark, we design a custom learning plan for each student. By signing up, you are agreeing to a Goal Setting Conference as well as at least four tutoring sessions. A goal setting conference is between tutor, adults, and student. Here Spark tutors learn about what makes their student unique and academic goals are discussed. After the Goal Setting Conference an academic program is designed.
WHAT DOES AN ONLINE SESSION LOOK LIKE?
Online sessions look like 1:1 tutoring via Google Meet. Spark will design a project-based learning experience that will last 4 sessions. While in sessions, students will learn academic skills and apply them through project-based learning.
WHAT DOES A HOME SESSION LOOK LIKE?
Home sessions looks like a Spark tutor coming to your home to provide academic services. Through integrating materials available, like legos, drawing supplies, or even baking, Spark brings play-based educational experiences. Sessions are designed to focus on a skill and then apply the skill through play. Our 1:1 tutoring sessions may look like working on fractions, then heading to the kitchen to use fractions in baking cookies.
WHAT DOES AN OUTDOOR LEARNING SESSION LOOK LIKE?
Outdoor learning sessions look like meeting at a public park or place to dive into learning. The 1:1 experience will begin with skill based learning then expand to using the place as a learning tool. For example, a session may head to the botanical gardens where students practice multiplication skills then use nature to reinforce learned concept. For example, how many petals does each flower have? How many flowers are on this plant? How many petals in total are there? What do you notice about numbers in nature?
